I am Saloni, consider me your companion for the next 10 minutes as I am going to be sharing FIVE Golden Nuggets of Wisdom from the world of Digital Marketing.

Before we dive into the process of learning and unlearning, I must ask you to unplug and be present in the moment for the next couple of minutes to make the most out of this fun joyful ride!

As Buddha preached, ‘There’s BIG magic in SIMPLE things’, the 5 Golden Wisdom Nuggets of Digital Marketing are also as simple as ABC! They are based on uncomplicated scientific facts and not on matters of luck or chance. They are easy to learn, execute and yield results! So, fret not as it just takes focussed efforts and a concise plan to become a PRO-Digital Marketer. With no further ado, let’s start out.

Wisdom Nugget ONE: Fundamental of Marketing rests on the fact how well you understand your customers’ needs and behaviours.

This exact understanding helps one in building best suited products and services to satisfy their customers’ needs or resolve their problems. So, it is safe to say that marketing begins even before a company/product comes into being as it is through marketing that one realises a potential issue to be solved and yields value/money.

To become a fabulous digital marketer, it is imperative to realise that ‘Customer comes first and not the product that you’re selling!’. It is the journey of building a relationship with your customers to gain positive branding and perspective of your brand or product.

Therefore, if you recognise what the customer needs then it is ABSOLUTELY a no-brainer to sell your product by following the ‘4R’ rule:

  • Right Message at the Right time to the Right person at the Right platform!

A potent example of this comes from my personal experience of interacting with the posts of an Instagram Account — Doodle With Buddha. The content seamlessly made a connection with me to resolve my problem of stealing quick moments of calm and stillness in my fast paced life.

In no time, this brand made its way to my routine of self care and meditation practice and turned me into a customer. Now I am a full blown consumer of their published books and planners on Amazon.

Wisdom Nugget TWO: Now that we have assimilated the First Nugget and laid the foundation of our learning, our next task is to dive deeper and understand the relationship between Traditional Marketing and Digital Marketing.

Traditional Marketing can be seen as a vehicle to reach the masses such as through advertisements on Mass Communication Mediums such as television, radio or newspapers. This marketing type assists you in reaching customers of all types; especially the not-so mobile savvy generations. Say hello to our gorgeous grandparents! 😍

Going down the memory lane, can you think of an advertisement of a company which does Traditional Marketing? My first thought is — McDonald’s during the 1990s. The happy clown dancing with the happy meal on the TV! It’s jingle on the radio channels! And its logo in the newspapers. Can you picture it too? If yes, then it is time for another grin! 😬

Digital Marketing, on the other hand, is a personalised route to reach out and interact with the customers personally; especially through social media on digital devices.

It is all about catching your customers’ eyes through a hearty image or a trending video on the platforms they hang out the most and hooking them up with your product/service.

Digital Marketing gives you an opportunity to reach out the customers best suited for your product. In other words, you can choose to build a community of consumers for whom you have designed your services or product. Can you think of a company which sold you through Digital Marketing? My mind is boggling with companies’ logos and images! How about you? See, this is how effective right marketing is!

Wisdom Nugget THREE: Next up is the nugget which will bless us with an insightful roadmap to be a Successful Digital Marketer.

It will teach you how to prioritise and plan out your own career path as a Digital Marketer. So, it seems like a good time for you to take out your notebook and pen and take notes.

The success phenomena is based on the formula:

Wealth = n ^ CATT

where, n stands for the niche you select based on your talent or passion to sell your products/services

C equals content that you create to strongly attract people from your niche

A interprets as driving attention of your targeted audience on your content on your selected social media platforms

T stands for trust you build with your community through emails, sales page

T indicates for transaction to convert your audience into customers through sales methods

You’re all set! Breathe it out!

Wisdom Nugget FOUR: If you’re still reading, I want to pat on your back and say, “Well done! You’re about to unlock another superb wisdom nugget!” Let’s proceed.

This one is all about unifying all the digital marketing tactics to create one strong Integrated Digital Marketing Framework to approach, connect and convert your customers!

Integrated Digital Marketing Framework complements the Wisdom Nugget Three and encourages you to recognise all the channels/platforms your customer uses and create a virtual consistent image which ALWAYS points at your product/service.

So, to summarise what I’m saying, let’s play a game! I am going to say a few punchlines of brands, let’s see how many you can recognise!

Is your mind boggling up with visual images and logos again? Well, it is because all these companies used an integrated marketing framework to use the same message again and again and again on various media platforms until your mind identifies with their message! They were consistent at their approach of unifying multiple marketing tactics to harbour a home in their customers’ hearts.

*Close your eyes and promise yourself that one day your customers will also remember you just the way you remembered the other brands!*

Wisdom Nugget FIVE: Happy news is that we are at our final nugget and it is all about the ONE word that I have been sneakily using above while discussing the other nuggets. Admittedly, this word has a powerful impact on the success of a product/service!

It is the conscious and intentional effort of creating and influencing public perception of an individual by positioning them as an authority in their industry and niche.

You can start out by building upon your personal brand through communicating with people on a deeper level and gradually making them your customer!

The fifth nugget emphasises on the fact — people connect with people.

It is all about finding and sharing your uniqueness, building a reputation on the things you want to be known for, and then selling the products based on your good will and tested skills.

The steps to initiate the Evolution of your Personal Branding are:

  • Find and learn a skill that is unique to you to build your personal brand.
  • Implement your skill and put it into execution.
  • Blog and create content around your skill driver experiences.
  • Consult and share your expertise with others based on your chosen skill.
  • Mentor other people who want to emulate you.
  • Establish a start-up to provide products/services with the understanding you have developed about the market, customers’ problems and your own skills.
